When you hear about the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, one of the names that comes to your ears and eyes and that is Al-Riyadh. A city of lights and wonder with its serene beauty that lures you and attracts your attention towards itself. A city where you can find both peace and fun. This city shows the people that a city can never be developed, it has to improve every step of the way.
I visit the kingdom every year, it is a part of being an engineering student who is an expatriate of the kingdom and i visited Riyadh almost after 4 years. The moment i stepped into the airport it all looked the same, the same fountain, the same immigration point and the same old waiting area but when i was leaving the airport i saw this amazing place on the right which began with an amazing building which looked like a mansion and then the buildings kept on coming which were huge and had beauty in every corner of it and to top it all off a metro train was passing by, concealed within a big boundary was magnificent place which looked like a palace. when i asked my father about whose palace is this he answered "Its a University". I was shocked and amazed at the same time because how can a university be this big and this beautiful, When i used to live in Riyadh i.e. about 6 years ago i didn't even hear about a college that existed in it, but now there is this beautiful structure right beside me and that too just for women. I knew that things have changed around here. But unfortunately in my last years trip i didn't get to observe or cherish the sweetness of this amazing city.
This trip i decided that i am not going to sit around my house like a bum and enjoy myself. One night one of my friends calls me and says that "We are playing football tonight, Are you in". How can i reject, so i accepted the offer and agreed to come with them. I got ready and went to this friends house. We gathered had dinner outside, then later that is the time when the fun began. One of my friend brings a beautiful car which looked classy and sporty at the same time, we got in and rome around to see how the car was and let me tell you the car was extremely fast with a loud noise and incredible control. We kept cruising around and it, speeding, drifting and dragging the car, the experience was totally satisfying. We hung around for a while and then we realised that the match was in an hour and it was pretty far away from the city so we left for the match. Our destination was a stadium at Qasseem road and we were at malaz, the distance was around 50 kms, While we were on the way passing through the gulf bridge, i looked out the window and saw a world of lights with beautiful cars around amazing structures standing tall which looked luxurious from every angle. The street lights and lights from cars being reflected from their mirrors and shining right back at you. One after the other the skyscrapers kept on coming until the Big Fish came. The Mamlaka tower or commonly known as the "Kingdom centre" a one of a kind structure which reflects the beautiful city which is lit up the whole night. After a long and satisfying ride we reached the ground it was freezing and we ended up playing for an hour and a half, the match ended with our win and it was time to head home.
There may be other beautiful cities out there which i might visit in the future but this night which i spent here in Riyadh, i will never forget because i lived this night. This is a city that never gives up and keeps on coming with surprises.
